Holidays are typically a chance to spend time with loved ones, take a vacation, or simply celebrate a special occasion. For marketers, however, holidays are also the perfect time to draw in more consumers.
Whether it’s candy and costumes on Halloween, presents for the Christmas season, or teddy bears and roses on Valentine’s Day, holidays are almost always characterized by a large increase in consumer spending.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the time is fast approaching for businesses to gear up and prepare their marketing strategies for the holiday.
In order to take advantage of the holiday and succeed in capturing consumer attention this February 14th, here a few tips and tricks:
1. Spice up your logo and graphics.
If you’re running a marketing campaign for Valentine’s Day, make changes to your logo and/or website graphics to represent this.
Even something as simple as changing the color of text to red or adding heart graphics to your webpage will let consumers know that you have something special they should pay attention to for Valentine’s Day.
Work with your website design team to see what changes your company can incorporate.
2. Use a strong Call to Action.
Whether you’re offering a discount, promotion, subscription, or free download for Valentine’s Day, make sure you have a strong call to action!
The objective of Valentine’s Day marketing is to capitalize on the holiday and generate more sales or conversions for your company.
In order to be effective, your call to action should stand out. The button should be large enough to prompt immediate attention and the wording should be simple and informative.
3. Showcase your Valentine’s Day products.
By showcasing your Valentine’s Day specials on the home page of your website, you’ll make it easier for consumers to buy your products.
Making it a point to display specific gift items that are meant for the holidays will allow consumers to not only find the perfect gift idea, but also navigate your website with ease.
4. Come up with a catchy romantic caption.
Although romantic captions for Valentine’s Day may seem cliché, they are a great marketing tactic.
Even generic captions such as “A gift for your special someone…” will draw the attention of those who are going crazy trying to find a gift.
If your company can come up with a unique, catchy, and romantic caption to share via social media, your sales and conversions will benefit even more.
A great example is Coca Cola’s 2013 “Love is in the Air,” video campaign, which featured bunches of red balloons tied to coke cans being released into the air, received by couples down below.
The caption, “Love is in the Air,” was appropriate both for Valentine’s Day and for the video that Coca-Cola used to promote the campaign.
5. Promote shipping dates.
Last but not least, stress shipping dates! Often times, consumers are willing to pay more in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day to get their gifts shipped on time.
Bolding shipping promotions such as “Guaranteed delivery by February 13th,” and making them very visible to consumers is likely to increase your sales by a large amount!
